KAP, through PG Bison, has been involved with sani2c since its inception in 2004. The KAP sani2c is a three-day mountain bike stage race that takes place between Sani pass and Scottburgh, attracting over 2 000 riders to the event.

The sani2c started as an event to raise funds for one local school and today the event raises funds for sixteen local schools that are situated along the route. The event creates permanent and temporary employment. In addition, community members have been taught a number of practical skills such as bricklaying, building and tiling, which has enabled them to start small businesses in the area.

The sani2c Community Development Trust, in partnership with the Southern Lodestar Foundation’s Breakfast Programme, feeds almost 2 000 school children daily along the route. In 2016, KAP increased its commitment to the event by becoming the headline sponsor. Not only does KAP’s involvement benefit the communities involved, but the riders who participate are exposed to the positive impact that can be achieved through ‘beyond sustainability’-focused business practices.
